History

1973	Established as Hooker Chemical Far East Private Ltd. (Later changed to Occidental Chemical Company Pte Ltd = Oxy). Began importing parent company’s products from USA and selling to Asia Pacific region under trade name of “DUREZ”
1981	The first manufacturing line is launched.
	*General purpose and heat resistant phenolic moulding compounds were supplied to the customers in the region.Production capacity : 700 tons per month. Later increased to 1,000 tons per month.**
1989	Sumitomo Bakelit Company Ltd(Japan) took 50% share of the company. At the same time, the company changed its name to SumiDurez Singapore Pte Ltd. A full time technical advisor from Sumimoto Bakelite stays in the company.
1996	August-Began construction of the second production line for ammonium free & glass filled materials by Sumimoto Bakelites technology.
1997	August - Completed the second line and started trial production. Capacity : 450 tons per month.
1997	November - First commercial shipment of the second line products recorded.
1999	March - Sumitomo Bakelite took 75% share of the company by infusing additional capital share of the company.
1999	July - Achieved monthly 300 ton sales for Line-2 products.
2000	April - Achieved monthly 450 ton sales for Line-2 products.
2000	November - Sumitomo Bakelite acquired DUREZ Division of Oxy and, as a result, this company is 100% owned by Sumimoto Bakelite.
2002	May - 150K tons of accumulated sales volume of Line-1 products is achieved.

Employees : 53 (including 2 expatriates from Sumitomo Bakelite) Production Facility : Line-1 1,200 tons per month Line 2 450 tons per month Total 1,650 tons/month or 20,000 tons per annum ISO Status ISO 9002(Dec, 1992). ISO 14001(Sep 1998) 2001 Sales Volume: 10,500 tons, Sales $: S23mm(US$13mm approx) 2002 Sales Volume: 12,700 tons, Sales $: S25mm(US$14mm approx) 2003 Sales Volume: 12,355 mt, Sales US$14 mm 2004 Sales Volume: 13,735 mt, Sales US$17 mm 2005 Sales Volume: 12,038 mt, Sales US$19 mm Ship to : Moulders in China, S-E Asia, Japan, Oceania and M.
